Inscription long
Zwei lange Runeninschriften. Teilweise transliteriert und interpretiert bei Lisbeth Imer/Krister Vasshus, in Novele 2023: hos(t)i — zhe(l=p)uufarfat=ai jag=aizwod(n)as we=(r)(a)z. The inscription is placed in a circle surrounding the central motif of a male head in profile and a quadruped. The inscription is written from right to left, but was of course carved in the matrix from left to right. The surface of the bracteate is very worn and a few of the runes are almost invisible. Not only is each rune carved with great accuracy, they are also beautifully and skillfully executed. The carver has sought to finish each main stave and branch with precision; many of the branches almost have the shape of small beaks. There are no separation marks (Imer/Vasshus, 2023, 70-82). "helpu ufarfatailaga[i], iz Wod[a]nas weraz". "(I) help the catcher Jagaz, who (is) Ôðin’s man". Wodnas is a genitive singular masculine a-stem. We interpret this sequence as the earliest written representation of the name of Ôðinn" (S. 82).
